REFEREES
Updated 01/06/2017:
Referee clinics for the beginning of 2017 have been scheduled. All clinics are at Thomas More College, but they will be held in the Library, classroom L136. Previously, the clinics had been held in the lecture hall of the Science Building. This will not be a big change, however, as the Science Building is connected to the library, and the same outside entrance is used for both. If you have questions as to the location once you sign up, please let me know.
As always, more classes can be scheduled if demand is there. The schedule is as follows:
Two-day Grade 8 Entry Level: Saturday, January 28 & Sunday, January 29, 9 am to 5 pm
One-day Grade 9 Entry Level: Saturday, February 4, 9 am to 5 pm
One-day Grade 8 (online coursework required prior to class): Saturday, February 18, 9 am to 5 pm
One-day Grade 9 Entry Level: Saturday, February 25, 9 am to 5 pm
Grade 9 to Grade 8 Bridge Course: Sunday, February 26, 9 am to 5 pm
These are the clinics you will need to take if you want to work in the fall as a new referee. If you’d like to gain a better understanding of the rules of soccer, earn a little bit of spending money, or do both, please consider registering. Players and parents age 12 and above are encouraged to attend. Our local recreational leagues usually pay at least $12 per game for assistant referees and $20 for the center referee and increase from there. You can register for a course using the following link: https://kyreferees.gameofficials.net/login.cfm. The entire clinic schedule will soon be posted at www.kyreferee.com, and instructions for registering can also be found there.
Grade 9 classes are directed toward those who want to officiate recreational games, and the Grade 8 classes are directed toward those who want to officiate competitive club games.
Please contact me, Bryan Schaefer, District Referee Administrator, with any questions. I can be reached at 859-512-2696 or district1@kyreferee.com.
